German city of Frankfurt has two faces. On the one hand it is the financial and transportation capital of Germany and the other is the cultural place, combining an unusual history. During you travel and stay in Frankfurt you will find a bustling city that offers many entertainment both during the day and night.
Frankfurt am not dreaming now shifted to London as the financial capital of Europe. This was an ambition of 90 years of last century, which is facing the reality of the XXI century. Surely in Frankfurt there are still many Porsches and bankers in striped suits. The city, however rediscover their real charm as a user-friendly city in the German state of Hessen, which can offer many attractions.
Frankfurt museums are the best in Germany, after those of Berlin. The population is most diverse – it has a dozen nationalities, including a large Turkish contingent. Moreover brilliant skyscrapers along the Main River still bear the city’s nickname Maynhatan (mix of Main and Manhattan because of the high skyscrapers). It is also recalled that large investment and finance have not left town.
Seven of the museums in Frankfurt are conveniently located on the southern bank of the River Main in graceful promenade with many trees that can be reached from the north coast of two overpass. If you are interested Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (architect) and Stanley Kubrick (director and screenwriter), stop in Germany or in Architekturmuseum Filmmuseum. Save, however most of the time Städel-Museum, one of the best galleries in Germany, offering works by Botticelli, Dürer and Holbein.
Dinner in restaurant “Holbein”, which is located in the courtyard of the Städel. Impressive restaurant has glass walls and modern decor. The food there is great fun and would remain until the end of the evening.
Sachsenhausen is the most attractive district of Frankfurt. Its maze of cobbled streets densely populated filled by taverns that serve cider, sometimes referred to as Ebbelwoi. Several other cities in Germany are also claiming that strong drink made from fermented apple juice and served in a glass invites. “Bembel Adolf Wagner” is noisy and cheerful pub, which is actually the best place to try this cider.
